The only oil sardine producer in Italy only uses the sardines that are fished from the Mediterranean right on their doorstep. Pollastrini is based in Anzio, a port city near Rome. The company has been pickling sardines in olive oil since 1889. The sardines taste particularly good on buttered white bread with a fresh, green salad and a glass of white wine.
